Army OCP Uniform

OCP is the mandatory uniform beginning October 1, 2019.

Appropriate Wear

This uniform is intended for all-purpose wear.

You may wear this uniform:

  • Off post, unless your commander prohibits it
  • During commercial travel

You may not wear this uniform:

  • To bars or other places that primarily serve alcohol
  • Anywhere where your main activity is drinking alcohol

Appropriate Care

  • Do not starch
  • Light ironing is authorized to maintain a military appearance
  • Dry cleaning and steam pressing are not authorized and will cause the fabric to wear down faster

How to wear it

  • Insignia on front
  • Name on back
  • Hairstyles must not interfere with the proper wear of the cap
  • The cap should not be worn indoors

  • School graduate patches—graduate commanders may affix signia above HHQ patch

How to wear it

  • Legs may be tucked into top of boots or bloused at bottom.
  • One electronic device is allowed on the belt
  • Your cap may extend outside when placed in the cargo pocket
  • Keys should not be attached to belt, belt loops or waistband unless they are not visible

Army OCP Uniform Details

OCP uniform is authorized for year-round duty wear when prescribed by the commander. Some combat uniforms are classified as utility uniforms, while others are designed for a specific function. See the full uniform regulations for uniforms currently classified as combat uniforms.

OCP Uniform Accessories

You should also note that the uniform regulations have been updated to clarify the wear of branch and senior enlisted leader collar insignias for command sergeants major and sergeants major. The WARTRACE wear policy for shoulder sleeve insignia has been removed.
